Things to Do in Mallorca in May

Spring festivals, wine tastings & perfect island weather 🌿☀️

May is honestly one of the best months to visit Mallorca. The island feels alive again after the quieter winter months, the countryside is still lush and green, and the Mallorca weather in May is pretty much perfect, warm sunny days without the intense summer heat.

Locals love this time of year because it’s that sweet spot before the big summer crowds arrive. Beaches are peaceful, hiking conditions are ideal, and towns across the island host some of their most traditional fairs and festivals.

Whether you’re into food, culture, wine, or outdoor adventures, here are some of the best events and things to do in Mallorca in May.

1. Fira de Sineu – Mallorca's Most Traditional Fair

📅 May 15

This one’s a personal favourite. I actually lived in Sineu and went to school there, so this fair always brings back great memories. It’s a small village right in the centre of Mallorca, but during the Fira de Sineu, it suddenly becomes one of the busiest and liveliest places on the island.

The fair dates all the way back to the 14th century and is one of the most authentic agricultural fairs in Mallorca. You’ll see livestock exhibitions with donkeys, sheep, chickens, and other local breeds, along with traditional food stalls, craft markets, and folk dancing.

One of the most unique things about Sineu is that it still hosts a real working animal market, something you rarely see nowadays. Farmers come from all over the island, and the whole town fills with visitors exploring the streets and plazas.

📍 Location: Sineu town centre
💡 Pro tip: The fair usually coincides with Sineu’s famous Wednesday market, so come hungry and ready to explore.

2. Capdepera Medieval Fair

📅 May 16–18

For one weekend every May, the hilltop town of Capdepera transforms into a full medieval village, and honestly, it’s one of the most impressive festivals on the island.

With the 13th-century Capdepera Castle towering above the town, the cobbled streets fill with jugglers, falconers, blacksmiths, musicians, and performers dressed in medieval costume. Market stalls sell handmade crafts, leather goods, traditional foods, and sweet treats like roasted almonds and pastries.

In the evening, the atmosphere becomes even more magical as the castle walls light up and music echoes through the narrow streets.

📍 Location: Capdepera old town and castle
💡 Pro tip: Wear comfortable shoes — those medieval cobblestones can be tough after a few hours.

3. Moros i Cristians Festival – Sóller (Es Firó)

📅 May 12–13

This isn’t just a festival — it’s one of the most dramatic historical reenactments in Mallorca.

The Moros i Cristians Festival, known locally as Es Firó, recreates the historic battle between Moorish pirates and the people of Sóller that took place in 1561.

The action begins at Port de Sóller, where the “Moors” arrive by boat with smoke, drums, and fake muskets. From there, the battle moves into the town itself, with hundreds of locals dressed in period costumes.

The final scenes in the town square are chaotic, loud, and incredibly fun to watch. Locals take the celebration seriously, and the energy throughout the day is fantastic.

📍 Location: Sóller town centre and Port de Sóller
💡 Don’t miss: The final “battle” scenes in the town square.

4. Wine Days in Binissalem

📅 May 10–19

If you enjoy wine, this is easily one of the best events in Mallorca in May.

The Wine Days festival (Festa del Vi) celebrates the vineyards of the Binissalem wine region. Wineries open their doors for tastings, tours, and special events throughout the week.

You’ll be able to try local grape varieties like:

  • Manto Negro

  • Prensal Blanc

  • Callet

Many bodegas also host live music, art exhibitions, and food pairings.

📍 Location: Binissalem and surrounding villages
💡 Pro tip: Plan a mini wine route and visit a few different wineries in one day.

5. Fira de la Taronja – Sóller Orange Festival

📅 Early May

Sóller is famous for its oranges, and every spring the town celebrates with the Fira de la Taronja.

Restaurants create special orange-inspired menus, market stalls sell fresh citrus products, and local producers offer tastings of marmalade, cakes, and orange liqueurs.

The event celebrates the fruit that once helped make Sóller wealthy through trade with mainland Europe.

📍 Location: Sóller town centre
💡 Pro tip: Don’t miss the orange desserts — they’re incredible.

6. Pollensa Wine Fair – Fira del Vi

📅 Mid-May

Held inside the beautiful Cloister of Santo Domingo, the Pollensa Wine Fair is one of the biggest wine events in Mallorca.

Dozens of wineries from across the island gather in one place, allowing visitors to sample a huge range of Mallorcan wines while chatting with the producers themselves.

It’s a great opportunity to discover smaller family-run wineries that you might not find in restaurants or shops.

📍 Location: Pollensa
💡 Pro tip: Tickets often sell out early. Book ahead if possible.

7. Palma International Boat Show

📅 Late April – Early May

The Palma International Boat Show marks the start of the Mediterranean sailing season.

The marina fills with luxury yachts, sailing boats, marine equipment displays, and international visitors from across the boating world.

Even if you’re not a sailing enthusiast, it’s worth strolling along the waterfront to admire some of the incredible yachts docked in Palma’s harbour.

📍 Location: Moll Vell Marina, Palma

8. Ironman 70.3 Mallorca

📅 May 2026 (exact date TBC)

Mallorca has become one of Europe’s top destinations for cycling and endurance sports, and the Ironman 70.3 race attracts thousands of athletes every year.

The course includes:

  • A swim in the Bay of Alcúdia

  • A cycling route through the Tramuntana mountains

  • A coastal run along Playa de Muro

Even if you’re not competing, the atmosphere around Alcúdia is fantastic and full of energy.

📍 Location: Alcúdia & Playa de Muro

9. Art Palma Brunch

📅 Early May

This is one of Palma’s most creative cultural events.

Galleries across the Old Town open their doors for a day of exhibitions, art openings, music, and of course… brunch.

It’s a great way to explore Palma’s contemporary art scene while wandering through some of the city’s most beautiful streets.

📍 Location: Palma Old Town

10. Spring Hiking in the Tramuntana Mountains

May is one of the best months for hiking in Mallorca.

Temperatures are comfortable, wildflowers still cover the hillsides, and the views across the mountains and coastline are spectacular.

Popular hiking routes include:

  • Barranc de Biniaraix

  • Deià to Sóller coastal walk

  • Puig de Maria near Pollensa

  • Cúber Reservoir loop

If you enjoy outdoor adventures, this is the perfect time to explore the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
