🌸 Mallorca in Spring: Local Events, Weather & Why It’s My Favourite Season
If you ask me when Mallorca feels the most alive, it’s spring. Not August. Not peak beach chaos. Spring.
The terraces fill up again, almond and citrus trees are blooming, and every weekend there’s some village fair happening somewhere. The island feels local again, like it belongs to the people who live here.
If you’re thinking of visiting between March and May, here’s what spring in Mallorca is really like and the events I genuinely love this time of year.
🌤️ What’s Spring Weather Like in Mallorca?
Spring here runs from March through May, and honestly, it’s the sweet spot.
March still has that fresh feel (around 15–20°C), April gets sunnier and more stable, and by May you’re easily seeing 22–26°C during the day. Warm enough for terrace lunches. Not hot enough to melt.
It’s the perfect temperature for walking around Palma without hunting for shade every five minutes. If you’re trying to compare seasons, I break it down properly in my guide to the best time to visit Palma de Mallorca especially if you’re debating between spring and summer.
🎉 The Best Spring Events in Mallorca (The Ones I Actually Go To)
Spring isn’t about lying on the beach all day. It’s about festivals, food, and random weekends where you accidentally end up at a village fair. Here are the ones worth planning around.
🎊 Dia de les Illes Balears (1st March)
This is when the island celebrates itself and it’s one of my favourite early-spring days in Palma.
The Old Town fills with local food stalls, traditional dancing, live music, and small artisan markets. It feels properly Mallorcan, not staged for tourists. You’ll see families out all day, long lunches happening, and a general “winter is over” mood.
If you’re staying central, it’s easy to just wander out and soak it up, which is why I usually recommend the Old Town in my guide on where to stay in Palma de Mallorca.
🎡 Fira del Ram (March–April)
If you see bright lights and hear distant screams (the fun kind), that’s Fira del Ram.
It’s Palma’s big annual fair rides, food stalls, families everywhere. It runs for weeks and honestly feels like a proper local tradition. I don’t go every weekend… but at least once every spring? Always.
It’s especially lively on Friday and Saturday evenings.
✝️ Semana Santa (Easter Processions)
Even if you’re not religious, this is one of the most atmospheric times to be here.
The candlelit processions through Palma’s Old Town are intense and dramatic, with slow marching bands, hooded figures, and total silence except for drums echoing off the stone streets. It’s powerful.
Hotels book up quickly that week, so I usually tell friends visiting to compare prices early on Booking.com (their flexible cancellation options are helpful if Easter dates shift slightly).
🍊 Fira de la Taronja (Orange Fair in Sóller)
This one is genuinely one of my favourites.
Sóller in spring smells incredible, with orange blossom everywhere. During the Orange Fair, restaurants create special citrus menus and the whole town celebrates the harvest.
It’s one of those days that reminds you Mallorca isn’t just beaches.
If you’re planning to explore villages like Sóller in spring, renting a car makes life much easier. I usually compare prices through Discover Cars because spring rates are still reasonable before summer jumps in.
🍷 Fira del Vi (Wine Fair – May)
If you love wine, plan around this.
The Mallorca Wine Fair in Pollença gathers dozens of local wineries in one place. It’s relaxed, social, and very “spring energy.” You taste, chat, wander, repeat.
This is also when the countryside looks its best, with green hills before summer dries everything out.
🐎 Es Firó in Sóller (May)
This one is wild.
Es Firó is a full pirate battle re-enactment in Sóller, recreating a 16th-century invasion. Locals dress up, fake battles happen in the streets, and the entire town commits to it.
It’s chaotic in the best way. If you want something uniquely Mallorcan, this is it.
Accommodation fills up fast for this weekend, so it’s smart to compare availability early on Tripadvisor to see what’s still open around Sóller or Palma.
🏨 Where to Stay in Mallorca in Spring
Spring is ideal for basing yourself in Palma and doing day trips.
You get the restaurants, cafés, and walkability, but without peak-season crowds. I personally love staying near Santa Catalina or the Old Town in spring because you can walk everywhere and still feel the city waking up again.
If you want a full breakdown of neighbourhoods, I’ve detailed it here in where to stay in Palma de Mallorca.
Flights are also noticeably cheaper than summer, especially in March and April. I usually keep an eye on options through Booking.com Flights early prices creep up quickly once May hits.
🌸 Is Spring the Best Time to Visit Mallorca?
In my opinion? Yes.
You get festivals.
You get comfortable weather.
You get better hotel prices.
You get Mallorca before it goes full summer mode.
If you’re curious how different it feels compared to colder months, you can also read my guide to Mallorca in winter, it’s a totally different vibe.
Spring just feels balanced. The island stretches, wakes up, and everything starts happening again.
And honestly, that’s when I enjoy it the most.
