Cala Anguila, Mallorca
There are loads of beaches in Mallorca, but when someone asks me where to go for a chill day by the sea—without the mega crowds or party scene—I often say Cala Anguila. It’s one of those spots that locals whisper about but rarely hype up online… which is probably why it still feels a bit like a secret. 😉
If you're after turquoise water, soft sand, and a peaceful vibe, this one's for you.
📍 So, Where Is Cala Anguila?
Cala Anguila is tucked away on the east coast of the island, just a few minutes from Porto Cristo. It’s actually one of three little coves in the area—the others are Cala Mendia and Cala Romàntica. They’re all pretty close together, and each has its own feel.
From Palma, it’s about a one-hour drive (super scenic, by the way).
🅿️ Parking: There’s a small free car park and usually some space on the surrounding streets, but it can fill up in summer—get there early!
🌴 Why Cala Anguila Is Worth a Visit
Here’s why I always tell my friends and family about Cala Anguila:
The water is ridiculously clear—like, Maldives-clear on a good day.
It’s not too big, so it feels cozy and chill.
Perfect for families, couples, solo travelers… really anyone who loves a low-key beach day.
The snorkelling here is surprisingly good, especially near the rocky edges.
It’s one of the few small beaches that still feels local.
If you’re into sunbathing, swimming, and watching fish nibble at rocks, you’ll be in heaven.
💦 What to Do at Cala Anguila
Chill Hard on the Sand
Seriously, this is a bring-a-book-and-zone-out kind of place. There are sunbeds and umbrellas to rent, but you can also just throw down a towel.
Go for a Dip
The water here is chef’s kiss. Super calm, super clear, and usually quite warm by June. Ideal for floating, swimming, or just cooling off between naps.
Snorkelling
Pack a mask and snorkel if you can. Around the cliffs on either side, you’ll spot fish and maybe even a sneaky octopus. The underwater visibility is amazing on calm days.
Walk to Nearby Beaches
If you fancy a bit of movement, you can walk to Cala Mendia (literally next door) or follow the coastal path toward Cala Romàntica. It’s a lovely little walk with views and a couple of spots to stop and take photos.
🧃 Beach Vibes & Food Options
Cala Anguila keeps it pretty simple. There’s a chiringuito (beach bar) right at the back of the beach that serves drinks, snacks, and ice cream.
They’ve also got:
🍻 Cold beer and cocktails
🥪 Toasties and sandwiches
🍦 Ice cream, obviously
No fancy stuff, but it does the job.
If you're after a proper meal, I’d suggest heading into Porto Cristo after your beach day. There’s a bunch of great restaurants near the marina—like Roland Restaurant or Soma for seafood.
